Tamsorella’s Peloponnese Holiday Review 1

This review was written by a wonderful lady called Jacky Long who visited us late September 2019 for a week’s retreat with  aromatherapy and herbalism retreat. We all  had a fabulous time..

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Each day brought different delights – from visiting the local market, to exploring the waterfalls at Polylimnio, from eating at restaurants on the edge of the
sea, to swimming in a heavenly bay at Voidekelia, from learning so much at Tamara’s aromatherapy workshops distilling essential oils from Tamsorella’s
garden, to using the creams and burning the candles we made there…plus there was so much more! Yoga sessions on the beach, visits to ancient tombs, walks along
deserted idyllic beaches with mountain backdrops, seeing empty turtle eggs after their successful hatching. And then there was Lavender Lodge! As if all
the experiences and vistas and olive groves weren’t enough, there was this gorgeous accommodation with every comfort wished for including a fridge
stocked on arrival with food and wine (and if you got hungry you could pop just outside to harvest figs and pomegranates) plus organic olive oil harvested
from just outside your door. During the night I was sometimes awakened by the cries of Golden Jackals . During the day I spotted wonderful and beautiful
butterflies in Tamara’s garden.

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don’t worry about packing much as Lavender Lodge provides every comfort – soaps, creams, room sprays all made in Tamara’s aromatherapy workshop. Plus
hairdryer, first aid kit – everything!  Tamara is right on hand to provide every tip you could need to give you the best holiday experience ever. The
only tip I can think of is to come with some space in your suitcase to take home souvenirs and olive oil and aromatherapy products.

Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes definitely. Tamara and Bill are very committed to supporting local businesses. Tamara uses honey in some of her preparations which is from a honey
producer on the doorstep. They use local builders, and local people to help with the olive harvest. Part of the experience of staying with them includes
visits to local businesses and attractions, as well as restaurants. I was taken to places where I had the opportunity to support local traders. They
additionally enhanced my holiday by offering sessions from a very nearby yoga teacher. By their lifestyle lived in as close harmony as possible with their
immediate environment, they support conservation every day.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The Peloponnese offers a wonderful unspoilt landscape to be discovered . Just discovering the area was fantastic – but to have the opportunity too to harvest
plants such as lemon verbena, rose geranium and lavender, and then to distil their oils and make wonderful products too – it made a perfect holiday for me
which I will never forget. I’m now very enthusiastic about making my own skin creams, candles, bath oils etc .

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Tamsorella’s Peloponnese Holiday Review 2

This review was written by Charlotte Peploe, who visited us in August  last year with her husband  Rupert and her sons Julius  and Arthur. We all got along famously and had a brilliant time together. Thanks so much for the fabulous review which I’ve posted below….

We had a Tamsorella’s  Peloponnese Holiday in August 2018. We had an exceptional time at Bill and Tamara’s – their hospitality knows no bounds and they have thought of everything you could possibly want to make your holiday extra-special. The house is perfectly located to be able to visit the nearby Medieval castle ruins on the hilltop at Kryparrisia plus Olympia, Delphi, Messini, Nestor’s Palace; a wealth of major and minor classical archaeological sites all within easy driving distance. Tamsorellas Pelopponnese Holidays are ideally situated in this region for easy access to these incredible sites. Bill’s expertise as a Classicist must surely be unique for a rental property host – his deep and passionate knowledge adds an extra dimension when visiting sites with Bill as the guide.  There are plenty of restaurants in the locality offering a wide variety of extremely tasty Greek food including: ubiquitous delicious seafood or juicily roasted pork, organic wine at the local grocery shop down the road, powdery almond pastries at the baker’s in town, coffee galore – all of this adding up to ensure you will gradually ease into the slow paced Greek lifestyle.  One of the magnets for us was to be staying in this part of the Peloponnese not rammed with tourists despite being in the height of the summer season.
The property has staggering views beyond Bill and Tamara’s own olive grove out to the bay and towards the turquoise sea which is a short drive away.  Relaxing in the pool in a tranquil state after experiencing a rich odyssey walking round the classical temples is the best way to soothe those hot feet!  Lucky you, you will be indulged with Bill and Tamara’s own olives, their olive oil, Tamara’s home/hand produced herb-base face and body creams plus the scents of the herb garden where huge swathes of lavender flop about with their butterfly occupants.  The garden is burgeoning with fig trees, mandarins, oranges, limes, lemons, nuts, avocados and herbs too numerous to list.  Imagine sitting peacefully outside on the terrace in the early evening, cool drink in hand, a heap of olives in a platter, lavender filling the air whilst the sunset bursts across the bay and the fairy street lights of the town below start sprinkling the night skyline… only the local wildlife breaking the silence.
We cannot wait to return.  Happy memories are not enough – we want to repeat the experience again!  Can’t recommend a holiday at Bill and Tamara’s more highly!  15/1/201933

Tamsorella’s Peloponnese Holidays review 2

This review was written by Lucy Jacobs after she  visited us with her family last year in July  2018, for the second time! All the kids got on brilliantly and we had a wonderful time! Needless to say they are returning to Tamsorellas again this year !

My family and I had the pleasure of enjoying a Tamorellas Peloponnese holiday, and  staying with Tamara in July 2018, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Our two teenage girls particularly loved relaxing by the pool, venturing to local beaches and tavernas, and going exploring on Bill’s boat. We had a great boat trip visiting remote beaches and snorkelling in the crystal-clear water and being towed in ringos behind the boat screaming with laughter! We even had the pleasure of seeing  turtles swim by.

Tamara prepared us wonderful abundant Greek feasts, which we enjoyed on the terrace with spectacular views of the mountainside and coastline. I have never seen such amazing sun sets. We all enjoyed a tour around the olive grove that surrounds the lodge, and her organic aromatherapy creams and massages were the icing on the cake for me!

Tamara is a skilled herbalist and she provided us with wonderful workshops and aromatherapy presentations. Her products are sensational.

A trip to nearby Olympia is a must, Bill is a wonderfully engaging guide and made the whole experience come to life for the whole family. We can’t wait to return this year!

Tamsorella’s Peloponnese Holidays review 3

This review was written by Laura Janke who came with her husband Dan and two children, Max and Poppy and  spent 10 nights with us last year in August. Thank you so much Laura for such a great review! We really enjoyed having you all to stay and showing you the delights of our area in the Peloponnese.

We spent an idyllic Tamorellas Peloponnese holiday  in Greece last summer. We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 11 & 15. The packages provided had something for everyone and I think we just about sampled everything. The aromatherapy garden is a wonder to behold and my children had fun learning all about the plants and flowers. Tamara undertook very informative workshops and showed us how to distill incredible essential oils from her herbal gardens.  To describe the view from our balcony of the Mediterranean Sea wouldn’t do it justice but suffice to say it is breathtaking. We could have sat out all day looking at it from dawn until dusk. The sunset is one of the most beautiful sights and I often think of it on a cold, rainy day back in the UK. The trips to Olympia and Messene were truly amazing and our day out on the boat to the island of Proti spent snorkelling and ringo-ing makes me smile whenever I think of it. When we weren’t enjoying the trips, sea and garden, we relaxed by the pool drinking in the amazing view and snorkelling in the crystal clear ocean looking for fish and baby turtles. If you are there at the right time of year, night time turtle watching on the local beach is a must. Have a meal at the excellent Taverna on the beach and then go and watch the baby turtles find their way to the sea.  We can’t wait to go back. It was a truly wonderful family experience.
